ASIA COMES TO BRENTTO LEARN HOW TO SERVE THENEEDS OF ASIAN DISABLED PEOPLE
The Asian People’s Disability Alliance (APDA) this week welcomed a university delegation from Shizuoka-Eiwa University in Japan. An 18-strong party, all studying community and social welfare, led by Professor Tatsuji Wakabayashi, visited APDA’s Disability Alliance Centre, based at Central Middlesex Hospital, Park Royal in order to learn how health and social care services can successfully be provided by ethnic minority people with disabilities in a culture as rich and diverse as Brent’s. Having completed a 6,000 mile journey across the globe, the Japanese visitors were welcomed with a traditional Swagaat by APDA’s clients, members, volunteers and staff, followed by a contemporary wheelchair dance performance by the Muskaan Dance Group, a Japanese tea ceremony and an exhibition of the charity’s projects. |
