ROYAL VISIT TO

ASIAN PEOPLE WITH

DISABILITIES ALLIANCE

HRH The Princess Royal visited the Asian People's  Disability Alliance in Park Royal on Wednesday 3rd December.

The event celebrated the International Day of Disabled People, and was attended by many other notable individuals who have local and national links to the work of the Asian People's Disability Alliance (APDA).

APDA, enjoying its first royal visit, celebrated the occasion simultaneously with New Delhi-based charity Concerned Action Now with whom APDA currently does international work.

The event began at 11am and a fully packed programme meant that celebrations continued well beyond the scheduled finish of 3pm. The programme drew upon the skills of talented individuals and organisations from London’s diverse communities, including disability dancers, musicians and youth disability groups.

Commending APDA for offering an excellent service, which has inspired countless others in the field, Princess Anne said: ‘The abilities of disabled people should not be forgotten as they have skills that we can use and learn from. Quite often, I feel quite humbled by them”.

  Mr Ashok Ghose, Chair of APDA, said;

“ This was one of the best days in our fifteen-year history. We’re very grateful that the Princess Royal said yes to us. The Princess Royal’s visit has come at a time of enormous change in our work, and her presence and support has inspired us and will give a powerful boost to expand our work over the next few years."
