 a.    ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE

 

APDA is delighted, proud and honoured that APDA's Chairperson Mr. Ashok Ghose has been awarded an OBE for his services to disabled people.

It was Mr. Ghose's second visit to Buckingham Palace. The first time was when he and APDA'S Executive Director were invited to a Buckingham Palace reception given by the Royal Family in 2000 for Voluntary Organisation

b.    SPECIAL CONSULTATIVE STATUS WITH THE UN

 

APDA is most pleased that the United Nation's Committee on Non-Governmental Organisations has decided to grant APDA special consultative status with its Economics and Social Council.

c.     REMPLOY

 

The many years of APDA's supportive work in facilitating employment and training for Asian disabled people was suitably rewarded by REMPLOY

APDA was commended for the way it has set an example of good practice in enabling disabled people to realize their potential through work and as recognition of its many years of empowering Asian disabled people.

The awards are an accolade to those employers who have demonstrated the highest standard of equal opportunities and show that employing disabled people brings positive commercial benefits to the employer and the whole workforce, as well as disabled employees.
